Reading Concepts Covered by the TPRI - Grade 2
The following reading concept is covered in the screening section of the Grade 2 TPRI:

Word Reading-the correct identification of words.

To be considered "Developed" on the beginning of the year Screening, students must score a 5 or higher
on Screening 1. For Grade 2, Screening 1 is only used during the beginning of the year TPRI administration.

The reading concepts listed below are covered in the inventory section of the Grade 2 TPRI:

Graphophonemic Knowledge-The recognition of spelling patterns, including sound-symbol
relations, spelling conventions, plurals, past tense, and inflectional endings.

Reading Accuracy-the ability to read text accurately.

Reading Fluency-the ability to read connected text accurately, quickly, and automatically.

Reading Comprehension-the understanding of what has been read by the student.
