General Product Information
TPRI K-3 Early Reading Assessments
The TPRI is an instrument designed to be administered one-on-one by the classroom teacher. The TPRI consists of both a Screening Section and an Inventory Section.
With a short series of student-friendly tasks, the Screening Section allows a teacher to quickly identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulty. The Screening Section provides an easy way to identify students who are likely to experience success in reading so that time can be spent gathering more detailed information for those students who may need instructional intervention.
The Inventory Section engages the student with inviting tasks and entertaining stories, while giving the teacher an opportunity to gather more data to help match reading instruction with specific student needs.
The Screening Section of the TPRI consists of the following areas:

Once each student's needs have been identified, the Intervention Activities Guide (IAG) provides teachers with effective instructional activities to address individual student needs.
TPRI Progress Monitoring Kits
TPRI provides two progress monitoring kits to assist the teacher in determining whether the intervention instruction students are receiving is effective or needs to change.
TPRI Progress Monitoring for Emergent Readers (PMER)
The TPRI Progress Monitoring for Emergent Readers (PMER) measures kindergarten and first grade students’ progress with phonics, phonemic awareness and listening comprehension.
TPRI Progress Monitoring for Beginning Readers (PMBR)
The TPRI Progress Monitoring for Beginning Readers (PMBR) measures first, second, and third grade students’ progress in reading fluency. Fluent reading entails consolidation of the alphabetic principle and extraction of meaning at the level of words and sentences.
The fluency assessments in the PMBR are a compliment to the fluency section of the Grades 1, 2 and 3 benchmarking kits. These additional assessments are intended to facilitate quick, easy and more frequent progress monitoring between the TPRI benchmark administrations at the beginning, middle and end of the year.
All kits and materials can be ordered from our Licensed Vendors.
